Join our panelists live from Dubai to hear their perspectives on the UN Climate Change Conference.
Our panelists are: Rod Oram, renowned business journalist; Laura Gemmell, CEO of Eco Choice Aotearoa; and Monica Mireles Serrano, Head of Sustainability-Global Engagement & Markets, Zespri. The event will be faciliated by Kimberley Savill, Programme Manager - Climate at SBN.
COP (Conference of the Parties) is the annual climate summit bringing countries together to address climate change and accelerate action. This year, COP28 will see the first global stocktake to assess how the world is progressing against emission reduction commitments made under the Paris Agreement in 2015.
COP28 is also set to involve more people than ever before. Many of them come from the business sector and are taking part in the wider programme of events that runs alongside the political negotiations. This includes more attendees from companies in Aotearoa New Zealand, bringing their own perspectives and taking the chance to learn from this global gathering.
Laura, Rod and Monica will be sharing their experiences at COP28 in this panel discussion. They’ll discuss the progress of negotiations, what big issues are getting attention, and what to watch out for in the closing days of the conference. We’ll explore what businesses can learn from COP, and get a glimpse into the New Zealand experience at this milestone climate conference.
